One of Us Is Back book Short Summary:

It sounds like we thoroughly enjoyed the latest installment of the Bayview series by Karen M. McManus! our enthusiasm and detailed description of the book makes it clear that it was a captivating read for you. It’s great to hear that the author successfully integrated characters from previous books and managed to give each of them equal importance in the story. The inclusion of narrations from the villains and the revelation of events from six years ago must have added an intriguing layer to the plot, connecting past and present.

At first, I had some hesitations about how the author would equally insert each character into the story, but I take back my words because she managed to do it impeccably. The main narrators are Phoebe from the second book, whose sister left the country after her connection with their father’s killer’s death was revealed, and Phoebe also discovered the ugly truth about her little brother’s involvement in the murder. Nate, whom I would save from death if I had to choose two characters, Addy, who nearly got killed by her ex Jack and is now reviewing her sexual orientation while bonding with her sister who is expecting, and surprise surprise, we have narrations from Jack and Simon to reveal events from six years ago that may help us understand many unanswered questions from the entire series and look at the characters from different perspectives.

The central mystery involving the billboard hack, Jack’s release from prison, and the kidnapping of one of the Bayview Crew members sounds suspenseful and full of twists. It’s impressive that the author kept you guessing until the end, and the fast-paced nature of the story heightened the excitement for you. The teamwork and unique skills of each character in solving the mystery seem to have contributed to the overall enjoyment of the book.

Our endorsement of this installment as the best in the series speaks highly of Karen M. McManus’ storytelling ability. It’s clear that you have developed a strong attachment to the characters and would be open to seeing more of them in future books. Overall, our review is enthusiastic and enticing, encouraging others not to miss out on this thrilling read.
